Pixmania and Carrefour form strategic alliance
Wednesday 6 July 2011

Supermarket giant Carrefour, worldwide number two behind Metro, has entrusted its e-commerce internet appearance into the hands of Pixmania. By its specialised branch   e-merchant, Pixmania is to realise the virtual sale of Carrefour’s non-food items. Both companies recently published a press release on this matter

In order to make up its lag in terms of e-commerce, Carrefour will – together with Pixmania – put a webshop concept on the market which is to tap the entire European market. This will be implemented via e-merchant, a Pixmania branch, set up in 2006 with the purpose of offering companies various services and technologies for the development of commercial online activities on the international level. No financial details about the deal have so far been disclosed.

In addition, part of Pixmania’s assortment will also be offered via the new web shop. The company is thereby expecting a head start over competitors Cdiscount, Amazon and Price Minister. The cooperation fits very well into Carrefour’s multi channel strategy with which the distribution giant aims to continue its success also in the online market.
